Alright so, pictured above is an
example of a sheer mediocrity. I’m just
gonna say it, artists, we have to do better with our product descriptions.
Most product descriptions for
artwork could use some MAJOR WORK, some pizazz, some hutzpah, some spice.
I know, I know, it's about the
art, cool, cool…and?
I’m an advocate of standing out
as an artist because, well, EVERYONE IS A FUCKIN’ ARTIST…jazzing up your
product descriptions can’t hurt.
Here are few tips I would recommend.
RED
What's going on here? Is this a random thought? Is this the best you could do with naming the piece?
Don't throw a word in think that people will just get it. If FREEDOM is the title piece,
* Add some quotation marks
*Add "ARTWORK TITLE : " to denote that this in fact the damn title
*Put your name in as the artist
BLUE
This information is already provided below, why waste space with it again?
This could be valuable space to inform of the materials used to make it or again, add in who created the artwork
YELLOW
Use all of the space - Create a dialogue between you and your customer
This spot would be perfect for talking about the actual artwork, why you created it, etc, OR...OR you could use this space to tell the customer why this would work for them, where it could be hung, and how to appreciate it.
PINK
Some of the product detail here is unnecessary. Try not to put everything you can here.
What matters most is, how the customer will be able to utilize the art when taken out.
I would eliminate:
HIGH STRETCHED CANVAS...What is that?
100% Made in the USA...no one cares
I would add:
Whether the canvas is limited edition or open edition?
Here's a revamp of the product description used in this example:
xoxo
