Are you ready to pivot your purpose for your art?
Have you considered it?
This topic came up because I recently was reminded about the
purpose of business.
I listened to someone I follow’s podcast where she talked
about business really being about solving a problem.
And how the biggest mistake is thinking that just because
you have a passion about something means that it should turn it into a
business.
It’s not to say that it is impossible to build a business
around your passion.
But consider the problem your passion solves.
I honestly think this misunderstanding is the reason why
people become stagnant with their passion projects or passion businesses.
Because the truth about business is that it’s
ruthless. It requires you to remove all of the niceties, replacing it
with practicality and reason as the leads.
You have to remove your feelings completely.
And as artists, this is difficult for us isn’t it?
Art is pretty much emotive expressions of our experiences.
So I pose this question to you.
Do you have the ability to make artwork for the sole purpose
of solving a problem?
That route may not be sexy or as meaningful enough for those
coming from the sector of society who is all about “being in touch” or
intuitive…
Can you handle that?
Do you want to see what it’s like to build with no emotion?
